Meet "Misa Criolla" Soloist Isaac Perez

Tenor Isaac Perez will make his PEV debut in our December performances as a soloist in Ariel Ramirez’s lively Misa Criolla, a folk mass in Spanish that features traditional melodies and percussion.

Isaac is a Spanish and English recording artist and songwriter with over 200k streams across the internet. Isaac sings, plays guitar and also a music producer. He recently founded Doxa Studio in Alamo, California, a recording and music production studio providing professional services to local artists in the Bay Area and internationally.

Isaac grew up in Mexico, where his parents were missionaries. He was exposed to music at a young age while his father directed a Christian mariachi band, which he joined at the age of 12 and toured across Mexico and the U.S. At 19, Isaac decided to pursue a music career and went to Imperial Valley College in Southern California, where he obtained an associate degree in jazz guitar. While in school, he started his music production career at Purple Vain Records in Calexico, working as a producer for various bands, local radio stations, and TV shows.

In 2013, Isaac moved to the Bay Area and earned a bachelor of arts degree in music at California State University East Bay. He specialized in vocal performance under the mentorship of Pamela Hicks and won the National Association of Teachers of Singing award. He currently serves as worship and arts director at Creekside Community Church in Alamo, where he lives with his wife Sabrina and their daughter Leah.
