Open Auditions on August 14, 2017 for All Voice Parts
The Grammy-nominated Pacific Edge Voices will be holding open auditions on the evening of August 14, 2017 for all voice parts. Now is your chance to be part of the Bay Area’s uncommon chorus, the Grammy-nominated Pacific Edge Voices. If you are an experienced singer, accomplished sight-reader, and interested in exploring a range of musical genres, then PEV is for you!
Each season has a varied repertoire that includes classical pieces from all eras, African-American spirituals and, in our A Cappella Jazz & Pop concert, every conceivable genre – ‘hardly strictly’ jazz & pop! Past collaborations have included Bobby McFerrin, Sufjan Stevens, Meredith Monk, and Sweet Honey in the Rock. We worked with Dave Brubeck to produce two CDs of his choral music, and our Grammy nomination was for a performance of Bernstein’s Mass with Kent Nagano conducting. Explore our website for music samples and more information on our history.
Season 2017-18 included a winter and spring concert, a fundraiser, and our a cappella Jazz & Pop concert in June.
PEV rehearses Monday nights in Berkeley near the North Berkeley BART station and the first rehearsal of the season generally occurs in late August of each year.
Auditions consist of singing two prepared pieces of your choice, and vocaleses to hear your range. Please print our audition form and fill it out prior to your scheduled audition. If you have a resume outlining your music experience, please bring it as well. Solo opportunities are auditioned from within the chorus, so both solo and choral singers are welcome. More information is available at Membership at a Glance.
Please call our Administrator at (510) 848-8022 to set up an audition, or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
